our approach to teaching children

with SEN

At Wingate, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. Guided by our school values about respecting children and protecting their childhood, we are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of their individual needs, feels safe, valued, and supported to reach their full potential. We pride ourselves on our inclusive approach and support for our families too, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive.

It is a priority to us that:

  • we identify at the earliest opportunity, all children that need special consideration to support their needs (whether these are educational, social, physical or emotional)all children have access to our creative curriculum and all school activities

  • our school works in true partnership with parents/carers, and relevant external agencies in order to best meet children’s special educational needs and disabilities

  • ensure that all children with SEND are fully included in all activities, so they have every opportunity to achieve to the best of their abilities, despite any difficulty or disability they may have

  • policies and practice are regularly reviewed in order to ensure best practice
